A Measure of Our Giving Fever
Buck Locke asked for a "Giving Fever" thermometer to graphically display the progress of our Class Gift toward the goal of amassing $117,000 in the Class of '56 Fund within the Sheffield Education Foundation. How better to do this than with an image of one of the vintage thermometers that the Nehi Corporation provided to many country stores to advertise their RC Cola when we were young.
On this page you'll eventually see two thermometers. One will depict the actual funds within the Class of '56 fund of the SEF. The other one (not yet added) will depict the actual funds that have been received plus pledged amounts, such as bequests within a will, or other funds that are firmly committed but not yet received.
January 2008: $4682.00

At the time of our 50th Reunion, the red line of the thermometer went up only to the $2,500 mark. A year and a half later, we find that the total is $4682.00, and that doesn't move the red line up any distance on the $120,000 scale.
As Buck quipped, " We are up a $1,000 from the 50th reunion! Lets see, at that rate we should hit $117,000 in 114 years! Now that is something to live for. Keep the faith!"
On January 7, 2007, he wrote, "Good news we are moving up! The next $112K should be easier! Keep the faith!"
We anticipate that the project will be on-going over a period of years. We will report the progress as it occurs.
