May showers did not dampen the Sweethearts' spirit, fun nor frolic this day at the monthly luncheon held at the Southland Restaurant.  Much sharing of summer plans coming up; excitement talking of the class mini-reunion in August.  The Morris' new home is on its way up and there was much talk of the latest entries on the SHS Website with music and animation enhancing the photos/videos.

Classmate Gayle Steverson Kent from Lakeland, FL is spending the month of May in the Shoals area and was in attendance today.  She was given an official Sweetheart's T-shirt and the look on her face  'tells her pleasure.'

Several Sweetheart's were also gifted (belatedly) with SHS Sweetheart DVDs made by classmate Jim Kimbrell for Mother's Day presents.

June 19, 2008

Sweetheart's present today: Joanne Marsh Gargis, Barbara Laughlin South, Mary Ann Blair Freeman, Joyce Horton Johnson, Rosie McDonald Jackson (new member who attended grammar school through the 10th Grade with us), Joyce Ford Foster, Patsy Bell Congleton, Louise Yarbrough Holland, Linda Methvin Smith, Sandra Foreman Morris, Janet Jackson Johnson (who attended grammar school through the 8th Grade with us), Shirley Kimbrough White, and Mary Lynn Blair Freeman.

Today's  SHS Sweetheart's luncheon was truly viewed through a very large pair of rose-colored glasses, property of Sweetheart Joyce Ford Foster....the glasses circulated and the ladies liked their  'view of the world'.

Peggy King Bishop, chair of the SHS reunion committee, announced that reservation letters  for the 52nd mini-reunion were being prepared to mail and classmates should reply with their check by July 26.  'Eat, Meet, Greet' will occur on Saturday, August 9 at 6 p.m. at the SHS cafeteria.  Dress is casual.   Parking is adequate.    Steak dinner is $11.00 per person; chicken dinner is $7.00 per person.  Dessert is included in these prices.

Patsy Bell Congleton who's in charge of decorations, asks for help beginning at 10 a.m. on that date at the cafeteria.  Any class memorabilia will be appreciated.

Sweetheart Mary Ann Byars Lenz makes her annual mission trek to Honduras mid-July.  She tells us she will make new photos of  Miriam and  of a new baby belonging to a young couple who live there and help with the mission work who have named the baby girl "Mary Ann."

We Sweethearts collectively thank Webmaster Louis for his May Sweetheart's entry on the Website  of our photos and accompanying music and lyrics to  'Let Me Call You Sweetheart'. . . . . sure makes each of us blossom!  Patsy Congleton tells us Tuscumbia HS grads (our vintage) are watching our SHS Website and are trying to work up interest to form their own group similar to our SHS Sweethearts.

                                                                                                     Thank you,

                                                                                                                   Linda
