It must be nearly Spring !

A two-month-old baby goat named Dixie was the Sweetheart's group   'Show and Tell' treat today.  Dixie couldn't come into the Southland so our merry band trekked out to the car she was riding in....petting zoo in the parking lot.  Dixie's owner was a friend of Sweetheart Patsy Bell Congleton.

Present today:  Joanne McMoran Jefferys, Zecora Wilcut Sanders, Joyce Ford Foster, Joyce Horton Johnson, Shirley Kimbrough White, Nancy Stewart King, Barbara Laughlin South, Mary Lynn Blair Freeman, Joanne Marsh Gargis, Patsy Bell Congleton, Louis Yarbrough Holland and Linda.

Linda gifted each Sweetheart with a 'business calling card', 10 each, generated on her computer with the Sweetheart's motif on it and each with a photo of self.   A belated Valentine's gift.

There was much laughter learning of Flat Stanley from Zecora   who has been there   with her granddaughters.

The SHS Website and Webmaster Louis' recent additions to the site were applauded....just keep buffering, ladies.   The girls really like the Christmas Kids !

Our server asked were we staying for supper?  Shows how much fun we are having.     Next luncheon will be on Thursday, March 20,2008 at 11:30 a.m.

The Sweethearts celebrated Easter today !

The huge Easter basket plus Easter table decorations were provided by Sweetheart Patsy Bell Congleton.  Patsy gifted each Sweetheart present today with written thoughts of her own of March 18 titled  "How Did We Get Here from There ?"   which I shall share with Webmaster Louis for his edification on the Website.  Well worth reading.  Speaks to the heart from Patsy's heart.

Sandra Foreman Morris reported on the fire loss of their home of March 2, 2008 and their progress since then.  The Morris' are still receiving mail at their home mail box.  I quote Sandra as she summed up her horrendous  trial by fire,  "This experience has made her entire family ---  not bitter; multitudes Better.  They are now playing the cards they were dealt.  Please keep their Morris family in prayer; that is where their strength lies."

Sweetheart's present today:  Zecora Wilcutt Sanders, Darby Frederick (Zecora's granddaughter), Barbara Laughlin South, Joyce Ford Foster, Patsy Bell Congleton, Shirley Kimbrough White, Louise Yarbrough Holland, Sandra Foreman Morris, Mary Lynn Blair Freeman, Joyce Horton Johnson, Joanne Marsh Gargis and Linda Smith.

Darby Frederick age 9 of Tuscumbia.  Darby is one of classmate Zecora Wilcutt Sander's granddaughters and the Sweethearts' delight at today's luncheon.

Joanne Gargis decided to give Patsy Congleton 'ears' like a rabbit.  Ribbon was attached to the Easter basket.

L-R:  Patsy Bell Congleton, Doug Boatwright and Sandra Foreman Morris.

Doug Boatwright, a Southland Restaurant diner today, came over to visit with long-time friends Patsy and Sandra who live in Tuscumbia, as does he.  Doug is a 1968 Deshler High graduate and is seeking political office with the Colbert County Commission, District 3, which includes portions of Sheffield, Tuscumbia and Colbert Heights.  Remember to VOTE on June 3 !

 Happy Easter !

Thank you,

Linda

The Sweetheart's enjoyed an early Mother's Day present as each were gifted with a DVD copy of the movie/video recently created by classmate Jim Kimbrell of the accumulated 2  plus years of 'Sweethearts on Parade' photos featured on the SHS Website.  Even Jim's label brought applause !   The Sweetheart T-shirt logo is the label on the DVD.  HOW SWEET IT IS...and thank you, Jim Kimbrell.

Sandra Foreman Morris reports their new home is under construction and the basement is in place.  Now, we go  UP !

Those present:   Shirley Kimbrough White, Patsy Bell Congleton, Joyce Horton Johnson, Louise Yarbrough Holland, Peggy Wynne Taylor (our Knoxville, TN. Sweetheart), Sandra Foreman Morris, Barbara Laughlin South, Zecora Wilcutt Sanders and Linda.

1956 classmate Robert 'Buddy' Thrasher stopped by to visit and got a photo taken with Linda.

Today, much conversation about the Trapp Home and Witfoth House video/movies now appearing on the SHS Website.     They are watching and loving  the views.  Lots of  'remember when' and who lived where during our high school years together.  Our merry band making 21st Century music.

                                                                                                 Thank you

Ed Note:  Sorry, Gals, for my late posting of your April luncheon photos--lame excuse:  up to my neck in producing a pictorial directory of the members of my church.  Looks to me like your get-togethers are really paying dividends!  I keep looking for some new names each month.  Actually, over the past year, I have noted a number of first timers.  Good work!  Small groups of friends getting together on a regular basis work wonders to protect against all the evil forces arrayed against our sense of well-being.  There's nothing in the world like a credible, cheery, "Attaboy" or, in your case, "Attagal."

On a related note of refreshing the body and the spirit, today, Georgia and I had lunch after church in Moundville, a little village south of Tuscaloosa, with friends at a small family restaurant, Miss Melissa's, which reminds me of The Southland.  In the back dining room, wonder of wonders, we found a real live Elvis Shrine:

Eat your heart out, Patsy    . . . . . . . and this is just a part of the things that graced two walls of the great room!
