SHS Sweethearts - 02

April 19, 2007

Here are   Photos of SHS Sweethearts of 1956 in attendance at Thursday, April 19, 2007 luncheon at the Southland Restaurant in Sheffield...and... our number of attendees is increasing.  Sandra Foreman Morris' granddaughter  Brooke Maupin, age 10,was a guest.   New to our monthly gathering are classmates Bobbie Cornett Caudill and Nancy Stewart King both living in the Shoals area...and we were surprised with a special visit from classmate Sara Tidwell Mardis of Springdale, Arkansas, who is visiting in the Shoals area.  We numbered 14 and are learning...the more, the merrier.

The right (kitchenside) half of the table with Sara Tidwell Mardis (out of town visitor) and Nancy King Stewart & Bobbie Cornett Caudill (new to the Sweetheart group).

This one's a bit fuzzy, but I included it because it was the only one that showed Louise Yarbrough Holland--the one seated to Barbara Laughlin South's right

May 17, 2007

Here is today's offering of photos taken at SHS Sweethearts luncheon held Thursday, May 17 at the Southland.  Margie Gargis joined us this time--she attends occasionally.  The man in two of the photos was introduced as Joe Lee McCoy, a 1950 SHS graduate, who stopped in our meeting area to say  hello to a couple of the ladies he knows.

Lots of sharing of new great grandbabies' photos and plans for summertime.  Patsy Bell Congleton gifted each of us with a copy of a poem, 'The World of Sandra Dee' (which you have included in your SHS web-site, BTW ) . . . . . . . .  and we talked and reminisced about OUR  Fabulous Fifties in Sheffield.

The SHS Sweetheart's group is making a JOYFUL noise to the world !

Seated (L-R):  Linda Methvin Smith, Joyce Horton Johnson, Zecora Willcut Sanders, Mary Ann Byars Lenz, Barbara Laughlin South.

Standing (L-R):  Margie Gargis, Patsy Bell Congleton, Nancy Stewart King.

Well, the SHS Sweethearts did bend their "Women Only" rule a bit to include a photo of Joe Lee McCoy, SHS Class of 1950.  But, be assured that he was table-hopping to greet several of his lady friend acquaintances AND NOT having lunch with them

June 21, 2007

The photo below is today's offering from the monthly  Sweetheart's luncheon, June 21, 2007.

Standing from left to right:  Linda, Mary Lynn Blair Freeman, Sandra Foreman Morris, Joyce Horton Johnson, Zecora Wilcutt Sanders.   Seated, left to right:  Nancy Stewart King, Louis Yarbrough Holland, Joanne Marsh Gargis, Barbara Laughlin South, Mary Ann Byars Lenz and granddaughter Livia Lenz, eleven years of age from Muscle Shoals.

Much laughter mixed with  tears   of happy time...Sandra Morris told of her 'brief walk' down into the Grand Canyon  ( She said  Nay ! to a mule ride, which is another story....) and Mary Ann Lenz got our attention with true stories of her learning to be wary and 'heads up' when visiting the Wild West.

Sweet memories....fifty-one years ...and counting...   does not fade when nourished with friends.

Ed. Note:  Don't you think this is the best photo of our Sweethearts yet?
