Not so early (9:30 AM) on a beautiful bright sunny COOL June Saturday morning, about 50 SHS Class of '56 early birds traveled all the way out to the Robert Trent Jones--Shoals golf course clubhouse for a wonderful breakfast on the back porch overlooking the wide blue waters of Lake Wilson.  The breezes were calm and soothing, the company was pleasant and congenial, we were treated to a great breakfast buffet, and Gary Menne spoke to the group about the meaning and importance of "Friends and Friendship."  Farley Vaughn, class photographer back in Fifty-six, and a career photographer, had prepared 18 panels in a series of photographs depicting couples and groups of us in the Fifties to illustrate the theme, "Friends."  It was a great way to start off the busiest day of the reunion!

Gary Menne gave us a very encouraging and meaningful short talk on "Friends and Friendship" as a morning meditation.  Gary was on a business trip to Las Vegas and made special arrangements to fly back Friday night, arriving in the Tri-Cities at 1:00 AM before joining us for breakfast to give us his talk.  What selfless participation!  Generous volunteering characterized all of the events of the reunion.
