This photo of
Linda Methvin, Rejetta McNutt, Eleanor Morrison, and Joyce Coburn was
taken on the trip by the Latin Class to Nashville.
Ed. Note:
Do you remember that besides visiting the Parthenon (a Greek temple, not a
Roman edifice, by the way), we toured the Hermitage, the Tennessee State
House of Representatives, Fort Nashbore and, of all things that high
schoolers might be interested in, the men's and women's penitentiary?

Now, here's a
reminder of one of the popular activities of the Fifties--A Pajama
Party. From left to right, you see Lindsay Nathan, Connie Johnson,
Jean Gardner and Irelle Dunning. I don't know if I'm seeing it
right, but I'd swear Lindsay and Connie think they're at a "Slumber
Party"
Ed. Note: Not
that I remember going to one, but my wife says you gals would go to a
movie together, stay out late, come home get in your PJ's, snack, play
records, talk, talk, talk and talk. In today's parlance, just
"hang."

Here's a line-up
of future beauty queens: from left to right, Jane Robinson, Jean
Gardner, (unknown), and Irelle Dunning.
Ed. Note: There's an RC Cola
and a Moon Pie waiting at the reunion for the first classmate to identify
"(unknown)."

And, here's a
line-up of our high school beauty queens--The Thanksgiving Day
Court. From left to right: Bill Mitchell escorting Gayle
Steverson who was selected to the court by football captain, Don
Burleson; Andy Burch escorting captain Jimmy Todd's selection, Nancy
Pugh; Allen Hyde escort of Lindsay Nathan the pick of the SHS
student body; and Hooty Crittenden squiring Patsy Green the pick of
the team.
