Barbara Bundy Occhipinti has come through with a collection of vintage snapshots from our high school days that includes some scenes at the lake. The lake was a big part of our recreational activities during our youth in the Shoals area, and I have been looking for some photos just like these that Barbara is sharing with us. Thanks, Barbara!

![]() Lindsay Nathan, Barbara Bundy, and Peggy Wynne at Robbins Beach Robbins Camp was an extra special fun place to go on the lake (Lake Wilson). We held our Senior Picnic there. The camp was, as I recall, just above the dam at the mouth of Stinson Hollow, and it had manicured lawn, concrete sidewalks and landscaping that, in my memory, rivaled that of the Augusta National Golf Club. The swimming pier was a great accommodation. I'm not clear on this point, but I believe the beach area was located at the camp. Somebody tell me about this! |

![]() Carol Cahoun, Peggy Wynne, Barbara Bundy and Lindsay Nathan No doubt this was the latest fashion in swim wear--a long way from what you see (or don't see) on high school girls of today. This is what you call chaste and decent and attractive. |

![]() Lydia Moore at Wilson Dam--Sheffield overlook "Our dam," first of 16 dams built to tame the Tennessee created a 30-mile long lake, Lake Wilson, that covered the "shoals' that made up the 140 foot drop between Decatur and Florence. More important to us than the opening up of this bottleneck to river navigation was the recreational opportunity it gave us--fishing, boating, water skiing, swimming, sunning. |

Barbara Bundy and Gayle Steverson I doubt that the tear in the photograph portends any rift between these two of the classiest girls in The Class of '56. |

Barbara challenged me with this test of "Name the Kids!" I took a stab at 26 of the 32 boys and girls illustrated on the page--all of the miniature class pictures and two of the snapshots. Missed one of the miniatures (23/24--I called Claire Parsons "Rosa Lee Waldrep") and missed the one of Lydia Moore at Wilson Dam (thought she was Joyce Coburn) for a test score of 92.3% (A low "A"). Thanks to Barbara Laughlin South, I learned of my "miss" on Claire Parsons' identity which lowered my grade from 98 to 92! Aha! you might say. Louis doesn't play fair when he grades his own test. Twenty-four correct answers out of 32 challenges is a 75% (C). I didn't do all the snapshots because I used the excuse that the photocopy was too dark. How's that for whining?
