August 16 marks the death of The King.  If he were still with us, we would have celebrated his 71st birthday this past January 8th.  That means he was only 3 years older than most of the members of our class.  So, he was still only a teenager when he stole away the hearts of all our girlfriends when he came to Sheffield 3 times in 1955 and 1956.

Thanks to June Holmes who sent a calendar with intimate, candid photos of Elvis that were taken by Alfred Wertheimer when we were seniors at SHS in 1956.  This is the Elvis we knew.   R.I.P., Elvis!
