50 years ago, we called our Class Night, "Reunion." |

Class Night for us was what is now called Honors Convocation, but it was more than just awards, it was philosophical reflection, talent show, comedy and appreciation by us the graduating class. Buck Locke, several years ago, proposed that we recreate Class Night at our 50th Reunion. He asked me to give the salutatory address, but, alas, I must have crushed that speech into a paper ball and tossed it into the trash. My long term memory does not serve me well now! How nostalgic it would be to hear Barbara Bundy Occhipinti and Crimon King up there telling us the things that irritated us and how things could have been better! Or Frances Crockett Seibert, Gayle Steverson Kent, Bob Proctor and Jimmy Todd recounting the notable happenings that made up the history of our class. Or, Jimmy Kirsch reading off the testamentary gifts. Or, Amos Jones reproducing the gifts that we left. No doubt our musicians, Irelle Dunning Vann, Lydia Moore Almand, and Jean Gardner Estes could still perform their pieces flawlessly--if they could remember what they were. I'll bet Joann McMoran Jefferys still has the poem she wrote for the occasion. Some of the ones on the program, sadly, are no longer with us. If reading this program stirs a memory or two about the things that were said or performed on this special night, Good! Please share it with us. |
