Hello classmates and friends of Sheffield High Class of '56! Welcome to our website, a place where all you sons and daughters of the mid-Fifties can take a trip down a nostalgic "Memory Lane" where it took its twists and turns along the high bluffs on the south side of the mighty Tennessee River in the little town of Sheffield in northwest Alabama where we grew up. You're at "Nostalgiaville" We'll reminisce with you about the good times we had back then, share with you what has happened in our lives, entreat you to help improve this website by your contributions, and, most of all, remember the faculty and staff of SHS back then when we were young and full of enthusiasm and ambition. High school was the time in our lives when we first got serious about making careers and leaving home, and our teachers were the persons who were most responsible (along with our parents) in helping guide us in the directions we took.

For an off-year reunion, we certainly had a crowd!
Well over 60 classmates and guests attended the 53rd reunion of the Sheffield High School Class of 1956 at the SHS Cafeteria. As usual, Peggy Bishop's organization and arrangements for the catered dinner and Patsy Congleton's decorations led to an evening of renewed acquaintances and fun. The recent annual reunions have led to a close feeling of "Family" that somehow makes the "renewed acquaintances" phrase seem inappropriate. There was lots of hugging and musical chairs as everybody seemed eager to visit with everybody. With some sweet poignancy, Peggy announced that the very first reservation for the reunion came from Larry Hall, who passed away on July 16.
